Odyssey

Im kind of glad that we're done with the Odyssey now. I mean, it was kind of cool in the beginning, but as the days went on it just got more and more boring. After chapter 12 I found reading become much more of a hassle than beneficial. Really the only part that I thought was good, was chapter 22 when Odysseus and Telemachus kill all the suitors, and after that it got boring again. So in summary, I'm pretty happy that we're done with it, because I really don't like it anymore.

Colbert's book

So I'm still on the first chapter, because they are fairly long, and I want this to be my only outside reading book for this quarter, instead of last quarter where I read two. The book is getting a bit more serious though, and focusing on his life as a child, which is nice, because I was getting very tired of hearing about why a single-mother family would be dysfunctional. He keeps talking about how great his family is compared to others, and to be honest it gets a little tiring. But I'm going to keep reading this book to the end, so hopefully it will get better, and a bit more controversial, which makes it amusing.

Sickness

So far this week, I have been sick, and it has not been fun at all. I think this weekend has been one of the worst weekends I've had in a while because I've been out with the flu. I have to say one thing, when I have a three day weekend, and I'm forced to sit on my bed and watch TV all day because I'm too weak to get up and hang out with my friends, you know I have been having a bad weekend. But enough about that, now I'm going to talk about school in class. So far we're reading the Odyssey and I don't really like it. I know it's a classic but it still seems boring and dry, or at least it has been since chapter 12. I've seen the movie, so I know what happens for the most part, and I've read a lot about the story in latin, so it isn't as interesting to me as it should be...

Colbert's book

So for my outside reading book, I am reading the Stephen Colbert book, I Am America (And So Can You) which is hilarious. The reason I decided to read this book is because Stephen Colbert is hilarious on the Colbert Report, and when I saw he had wrote a book, I had to read it, and so far its been hilarious. He has been talking about his family as a child, and how a functional family should work, and what is not a functional family. Although it is technically a biography, it has a lot of random stuff that doesn't really relate to his life, and is kind of annoying, because I don't like random sidetracks.

Marvin

I want to dedicate this post to my favorite character in my book. Marvin. Marvin is a robot. Not only is he a robot, but he is a manically depressed robot. Marvin continually tells people that he isn't worthy of talking to them. Marvin is a prototype robot for the new GTT robots which are supposed to display human emotions. Still, Marvin went horribly wrong and he is now really depressed all the time. Marvin also has a terrible viewpoint on the world. After speaking to a ship through the computer system it had, he made the ship commit suicide after telling it his view on the Universe. Marvin is my favorite character because of his hilarious, yet depressing antics.

Hitchhikers

I'm reading this book still and its taken a turn for the worse. I'm at the point where I can't stand reading this book. ITS SOOOOOOOOOOOO BORING!!!! The original one was great because it was so interesting with all of its side plots and sidetracks. The sequel just keeps going on and on about the vast amount of knowledge you can obtain in the universe. I think I'm going to blow up if I have to read it anymore. The word choice isn't very good anymore and the sentence fluency has tripped me up multiple times. I'm really glad that my outside reading quiz is on the original one, because as I read the sequel I find myself drifting off, and reading with my eyes but not my brain.

DISNEY

I'm in the band, and I don't have any school stuff to post about so I'm posting about my wonderful time at Disney World with the band. It was really fun. Getting to roam around Disney World with 200 some bandies is pretty awesome. I have so many stories to tell but I'm just going to say the one. My favorite part about the trip was Magic Kingdom. Not only did we get to march down main street in Disney World and stay at Magic Kingdom for the entire day. I HAD A DREAM FASTPASS THAT I WON AFTER I WENT ON SPACE MOUNTAIN IN THE MORNING. This fastpass let me go on every single ride in the fastpass lane if it had one. We were told that the card saved us an average of 12 hours on the line ride give or take a few hours. I had sooo much fun riding all the rides there.
